West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will organize only one entrance examination from 2013 onwards i.e., only for Engineering degree admission in Engineering Colleges of West Bengal. As of 2012, WBJEE Board used to conduct two entrance examinations; one for engineering admission and another one for Medical / Dental degree admission in West Bengal. But, from 2013 onwards All India based National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will took place for Medical / Dental course admission in Bengal & across India. We have already discussed about NEET Examination criteria, application process & question paper pattern earlier.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) Question Paper Pattern
Now, let’s check out Question paper format of WBJEE exam that has been changed by the Board. 10+2 (H.S.) or equivalent examination passed or appeared students of Science stream are eligible to appear in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admission in Engineering Colleges of West Bengal [around 96 Engineering Institutes are available in West Bengal].

The Application / Registration process of WBJEE [West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination] will be done through Online Application Process (www.wbjeeb.in). Board has started the Online Counselling process for admission from 2012 and from this year 2013 Board has also introduced the WBJEE Online Application / Registration process to provide more comfort to the students who can now register themselves for WBJEE exam from their home or cyber café without queuing up in front of  a bank to collect application forms.

Aspiring students appearing in WBJEE Exam should aware of with the changes made in the Question Paper pattern of WBJEE Exam from 2013 onwards. Now, let’s check out in details how will be the WBJEE Exam Questions going to arrange –
There will be two separate papers for Physics & Chemistry in WBJEE [West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination] 2013 onwards. As of now, only one question paper used to set for Physics & Chemistry subject; but from now onwards two separate question papers will be set.
  • WBJEE Mathematics Question Paper Pattern – All MCQ type questions. 60 MCQ questions of 1 mark each; means total 60 marks. 15 MCQ questions of 2 mark each; means total 30 marks. 5 Questions of 2 marks each; it means total of 10 marks. WBJEE Mathematics exam will be of 100 marks in total.
  • WBJEE Physics Question Paper Pattern – 45 MCQ questions of 1 mark each (Total 45 marks), 10 MCQ questions of 2 marks each (Total 20 marks) and 5 questions of 2 mark each (Total 10 marks). WBJEE Physics Exam will be of 75 marks in total.
  • WBJEE Chemistry Question Paper Pattern – 45 MCQ questions of 1 mark each (Total 45 marks), 10 MCQ questions of 2 marks each (Total 20 marks) and 5 questions of 2 mark each (Total 10 marks). WBJEE Chemistry Exam will be of 75 marks in total.

Negative Marking System has been introduced in WBJEE Exam (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) from 2013 onwards. So, wrong answer of a question will deduct 1/3 mark. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has also declared that the answer sheet will be published online while publishing of WBJEE Merit List (Result).

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) – Engineering Admission Test Details

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) eligibility criteria: - Who are eligible to appear at Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for admission to Engineering colleges of West Bengal & across India? Students should have Physics & Mathematics in 10+2 (H.S.) level and any one subject among Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology. Students should score minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 (H.S.) exam. Students appeared in H.S. (10+2) examination and awaiting their result are also eligible to seat in All India Joint Entrance Examination for B.E. & B.Tech admission in Indian Engineering Colleges.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Question Paper Pattern: - Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will organize All India Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) in two parts – JEE Main Exam & JEE Advanced Exam. Students who are seeking Engineering admission at IITs, NITs & other Engineering Colleges of India after completing Class-12th (10+2 / H.S.) are required to appear in JEE Main Exam first. If they qualifies JEE Main exam successfully then they became eligible for admission in NITs & other Engineering colleges. But to get Admission in IITs; after qualifying JEE Main they required appearing in JEE Advanced Exam. Students required to choose the JEE Exam Mode while application; Exam Modes are Online & Offline. Students can either appear in Online Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) in front of Computer or may choose Offline Joint Entrance Exam (JEE).

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main has two papers – 1st paper Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and 2nd paper for those want to learn Architecture (B.Arch) includes Mathematics, Aptitude Test & Drawing Test [2nd paper exam can only be done in offline mode]. MCQ Objective type questions will be set in both papers and questions will be arranged from 10+2 (HS) level only. Students have no intention to get admission in B.Arch (Architecture) require to seat only in 1st Paper of JEE Main Exam.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced is required for those seeking admission in IITs. After publication of JEE Main Exam result; successful candidates need to register for JEE Advanced Exam through http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in website. Remember, only Top 1.5 lakh rank holders in JEE Main Exam and those having at least 60% marks in 10+2 (HS) Exam are eligible to seat in JEE Advanced Exam for IIT Admission.

Application Process of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE): - The Online Application Process for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) can be made through http://jeemain.nic.in website during November & December month. There are few JEE Help Centres opened to help students having issues (problems) in making Online Applications for JEE Main Exam in every states of India. There are few JEE Exam Help Centres are located in Kolkata & West Bengal as well and they are – Kendriya Vidyalaya (Salt Lake), Laksmipat Singhania Academy (Alipur), B.G. Kanoria Vidyamandir (Salt Lake), DAV Model School (Durgapur), DAV Public School (Asansol), DAV Model School (IIT Kharagpur), DPS Pradhannagar (Siliguri) and Kendriya Vidyalaya (Bamangachi, Howrah).

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Date Schedule: - Generally the Offline Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is taken in the month of April. It would be a 3 hours written exam starts at 9:30am (1st Paper) & at 2pm (2nd Paper for Architecture course admission). Normally, the Online Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is also taken in April month. The result of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main normally published in May month and the Admission Counselling process also starts in May month. Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main Online Counselling process happens through http://jeemain.nic.in website. WBJEE Exam 2013 Online Application Process
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board will start the registration (application) process of WBJEE 2013 exam on & from 11th January 2013. The WBJEE 2013 Exam Application Process will be done Offline & Online [via WBJEE Website www.wbjeeb.in]. The Registration / Application Process of WBJEE 2013 Exam will end on 16th February 2013.

WBJEE 2013 Exam Admit Card Details
WBJEE Exam 2013 Admit Cards will be sent to the registered candidates via Postal Service by West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board from 1st April 2013. Applied candidates didn't receive their WBJEE Exam 2013 Admit Cards by the scheduled date; should Download Online Admit Cards of WBJEE 2013 Exam from www.wbjeeb.in and attend the Exam Centre with relevant documents.

WBJEE 2013 Exam Schedule - Date & Time
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) will conduct joint entrance examination of three papers i.e., Mathematics paper, Physics paper & Chemistry paper from 2013. These entire three paper exam will be taken on 21st April 2013. Check detail WBJEE 2013 Exam Schedule.

WBJEE 2013 Exam Question Paper Pattern
Few changes have been made in the Joint Entrance Exam Question paper pattern. WBJEE Board will take separate exam for Physics & Chemistry paper from 2013 WBJEE Exam. There will be total of 45 questions [weightage of 1 mark each] and 15 questions [weightage of 2 marks each] in both Physics & Chemistry paper. It means, Physics & Chemistry paper will be of 75 marks. In case of Mathematics paper; there will be 60 questions of 1 mark and 20 questions of 2 marks. It means total 100 marks paper for Mathematics. WBJEE 2013 Exam Venues (Centres)
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board till now organizes Joint Entrance Exam only at West Bengal & Tripura. But, from 2013, one more WBJEE Exam Centre has been added and that is in Assam. WBJEE exam will take place across West Bengal State, one venue in Assam & Tripura from now on.

WBJEE 2013 Exam Ranking Rules
To break the Tie situations, West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board will follow newly introduced 11 steps from 2013 WBJEE Exam. With this new tie-breaking rule; there will be less chance to happen Tie-breaking situation while publishing the WBJEE 2013 Rank List. WBJEE Board will publish the answer-sheet online at www.wbjeeb.in website alongside the WBJEE 2013 Result; so that appeared candidate can review their answer-sheet then-and-then.

Schedule of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - The written WBJEE Examination will be on 15th April 2012 (Sunday) – On the same day all the papers will be taken – Mathematics paper (9:30am to 11:30am), Physics & Chemistry paper (12:30pm to 2:30pm) and Biology paper (3:30pm to 5:30pm). Remember, the total marks of Mathematics & Biology are 100-marks, Physics 50-marks and Chemistry 50-marks as well.

Eligibility Criteria for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - The applicant must be a Indian Citizen and must have passed the H.S. (10+2) Exam or its equivalent examination.
(a) Eligibility for BE / B.Tech / B.Arch – General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics taken together (40% for SC/ST) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).
(b) Eligibility for Pharmacy - General candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics / Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).
(c) Eligibility for Marine Engineering - General candidates must secure at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics taken together and at least 50% marks in English.
(d) Eligibility for MBBS & BDS - General candidates must secure at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).

In addition to above candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2012 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2012 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age restriction for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - Candidates must be 17 year of age or above as on 31st December 2012. For Marine Engineering admission the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31-07-2012.

Application Form of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - The WBJEE JEM-2012 Application Kit (Application Form & Information Brochure) will be available from different Branches of United Bank of India on payment of Rs.500/- (for E/M type) and Rs.600/- for ‘C’ category forms in Cash. Check the United Bank of India branches where WBJEE JEM-2012 Exam Application Forms are available at www.wbjeeb.in website. The Application Kit may also be obtained by Post from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board Office on application with an additional fee of Rs.200/- only. The total amount has to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board’ payable at Howrah/Kolkata. The last date for making request for application kit by post is 6th January 2012 and the last date for receipt of completed application form by Speed Post only is 24th January 2012. The WBJEE 2012 Application Kit may also be obtained from the Board’s office only with payment of actual cost of the form plus late fee of Rs.300/- only from 19th January 2012 to 21st January 2012.

How to apply for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - The duly filled in Application Form must be sent in the printed window envelope received by the candidate within the Application Kit by Speed Post only so as to reach the office by 24-January-2012. WBJEE Office address is ‘West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, AQ-13/1, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-91’.

Date Schedule of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE JEM-2012): - Sale of application kit (from UBI Bank Branches) is between 28th December 2011 to 18th January 2012. Last date for receipt of request for Application Kit ‘by Post’ is 6th January 2012, the last date for receipt of dully filled application by Speed Post is 24th January 2012.
