  • AC Chair Car  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.90/- [Previously was Rs.60/-].
  • AC-3 Economy  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.90/- [Previously was Rs.60/-].
  • AC-3 Tier  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.90/- [Previously was Rs.60/-].
  • First Class  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.100/- [Previously was Rs.60/-].
  • AC-2 Tier  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.100/- [Previously was Rs.60/-].
  • AC First Class  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.120/- [Previously was Rs.70/-].
  • Executive Class  Railway Ticket Cancellation charge – Rs.120/- [Previously was Rs.70/-].
The Tatkal Ticket Cancellation Charges remain fixed as a percentage of fare at the rate of 10% of base fare for Second Class and 30% of base fare for all other Classes; subject to minimum & maximum as mentioned above.

Remember, this Revised (new) Railway Ticket Clarkage & Cancellation charges will be effective on & from 1st April 2013 as per the announcement of Indian Railway Budget 2013.

Rail Fare Hike – Railway Ticket Price Increased - 21st January 2013 New Train Ticket Cost

New Indian rail ticket details, New train fare in India from January 2013, rail fare increased in India wef 22nd January, rail fare hike in Jan 2013.

Indian Railway Minister Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal declares on 9th January 2013 (Wednesday) that the Indian Railway Ticket Price (fare) is going to be increased for every class of Railways from 21st January 2013. Railway ticket fare (price) is going to be hiked after 10 long years and will be applicable for every classes i.e., sleeper class, AC, local trains etc.

Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal, Indian Railway Minister, follows the Rail ticket fair increment pattern that was declared by ex-Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi in 2012 railway budget, which eventually not applied. In the same way with few changes; the railway ticket fare hike between 2 paisa & 10 paisa has been announced on 9th January 2013.

  • Second Class Ordinary Suburban Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 2 Paisa / Km.
  • Second Class Ordinary Non-Suburban Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 3 Paisa / Km.
  • Second Class Mail Express Train Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 4 Paisa / Km.
  • Sleeper Class Railway Ticket Price (fare) increased by 6 Paisa / Km.
  • AC Chair Car Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 10 Paisa / Km.
  • AC Chair Three Tier Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 10 Paisa / Km.
  • First Class Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 3 Paisa / Km again after increment of 10 paisa per Km that was done few months earlier.
  • AC Two Tier Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 6 Paisa / Km again after increment of 15 paisa per Km that was done few months earlier.
  • AC First Class Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 10 Paisa / Km again after increment of 30 paisa per Km that was done few months earlier.
  • AC First Class (Executive Class) Railway Ticket price (fare) increased by 10 Paisa / Km again after increment of 30 paisa per Km that was done few months earlier.
  • Minimum Local Train Ticket price will become Rs.5/-.

This is the first time Indian Railway has increased the Rail Fare in last 10 years and the rail fare hike will be applicable from 21st January 2013 midnight. Indian Railway Minister Shri Pawan Kumar Bansal has also informed that Railway Ticket Fare will not be increased again in upcoming Railway Budget of 2013. The rail fare hiked in such a manner so that railway tickets will be of Rs.5/- or multiple of Rs.5/-.  It means, as per revised 2nd Class (Suburban) train ticket fare price chart will have train ticket price of Rs.5/-, Rs.10/-, Rs.15/- and so on. Previous train tickets of Rs.6/-, Rs.11/-, Rs.16/- will become Rs.5/-, Rs.10/-, Rs.15/- etc. and train tickets of Rs.7/-, Rs.8/-, Rs.9/-, Rs.12/-, Rs.13/-, Rs.14/- will become Rs.10/-, Rs.10/-, Rs.10/-, Rs.15/-, Rs.15/-, Rs.15/- etc.  The Kolkata Metro Railway Ticket Fare will not be increased in this pattern.

Get ready to pay more for Railway journey from 21st January 2013 midnight.

Digha – Puri Express Train No.22877 will start its journey every Thursday from Digha at 5:15pm and will reach Puri Railway Station at 3:20am next day (Friday).

Puri-Digha Express Train No.22878 will start its journey every Wednesday from Puri Railway Station at 9:30am and will reach Digha Railway Station at 11:35pm on the same day (Wednesday).

Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train Fire Mishaps – Helpline numbers & Details

Today (22nd November 2011) morning around 3am Howrah-Dehradun Express Train faced a massive Fire in AC coaches when the Doon express train reached between Gomo Station & Nimiyaghat Railway Station of Giridih District of Jharkhand. Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train’s B-1 AC Coach got fired first and within few minutes the devastating fire spread all over the B1 AC Coach of Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train and then B2 AC Coach started to burn. Approximately 7-passengers of Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train were burnt dead due to the fire in AC Coach of Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train on 22nd November 2011. Among these died passengers of Howrah-Dehradun (Doon) Express Train; few passengers are from Kolkata as well & one Australian woman died also.

Tatkal Railway Reservation Rules 2011 | Tatkal Ticket Booking Process & New Rules of Indian Railway

New step taken in the Railway Ticketing process of Tatkal to stop the black-marketing that has been happening hugely in India for Tatkal Railway Tickets Booking. A brave step has been taken by Indian Railway Minister Shri Dinesh Trivedi and the new Tatkal Railway Ticket Booking System will start on & from 21st November 2011. Let’s have a look what are the changes made in Tatkal Railway Ticketing System and what is the recent procedure of Railway Tatkal Ticket Booking (Reservation) from now on-wards.

Railway Tatkal Ticket Booking Revised New Procedure - Tatkal Railway Reservation Rules 2011
When a passenger can book Tatkal Railway Ticket? Tatkal Tickets of Railways previously was available from 2-days (48-hours) prior and thus many black-marketers used to buy Tatkal Tickets of Railway and then used to sale in higher price to the needy passengers. But, from 21st November 2011, Railway Tatkal Tickets can only be booked only 1-day (24-hours) in advance. For an example – If a train starts its journey on 2nd Jan, then Tatkal Tickets of that train will be available only on 1st Jan from 8am in the morning.

Tatkal Railway Ticket Booking Timings: 8am is the time schedule from when Tatkal Tickets of Railway will be started to issue from Ticket Counters. Remember, Railway Ticket Agents (or RTSA) are NOT PERMITTED to buy Tatkal Railway Tickets between 8am & 10am (first 2-hours) of Tatkal Railway Ticket Booking (Reservation) Process. This will reduce black marketing of Tatkal Railway Tickets.

Documents required to buy Tatkal Railway Tickets: Tatkal Tickets of Railway will only be issued if one provide one of these mentioned Identity Proof while purchasing Tatkal Railway Tickets – (Only one will do) Documents required for Tatkal Ticketing Process – Voter ID Card, Passport, PAN Card, RTA issued Driving License, Central or State Government’s Photo Identity Proof, School or College Photo-Identity Card for Students, Photo-Identity Proof of Bank Passbook, Credit Card of Bank. There is NO MANDATORY system that only Passengers are permitted to buy Tatkal Tickets, it means you can send any one to Buy Tatkal Railway Ticket on behalf of you, but that person should provide Photo-copies of Documentation & should carry your Identity Proof document at the Ticket Counter. Xerox copy of Photo-Identity Proof requires while Tatkal Railway Ticket Booking (Reservation) and passengers are hereby notified that to carry the same Photo-Identity Proof during their journey.

Tatkal Railway Ticket Booking Process on Internet: Passengers can also has the option to Buy Tatkal Railway Tickets Online through Indian Railway Official Website and need to provide the Identity Proof number that are mentioned at the online railway tatkal ticket Reservation (booking) system on the website. IRCTC Agents can only book ONE TATKAL RAILWAY TICKET per Train per day though irctc website.

Number of Tatkal Railway Tickets Allowed per PNR: From 21st November 2011, only four passengers can buy tatkal railway tickets per PNR number. It means 1-ticket with 4-Passengers at maximum from now on.

Cancellation & Money Refund Policy Rule for Railway Tatkal Ticket: Please remember that NO TICKET PRICE will be refunded unless your situation belongs to these under mentioned reasons. So, Confirmed Tatkal Railway Ticket price will not be refunded during Cancellation of Tatkal Railway Ticket if your Cancellation Reason not comes under these causes of cancellation
- Train route changes for unavoidable circumstances and the passengers don’t want to ride on other route of that train.
- Station from where the Tatkal Ticket was booked isn’t in the way of changed train route. Train route changed and the station of yours doesn’t in the new route.
- Passenger gets seat in other Classes and not in the class that he/she was request for.
- Partial Confirmed or Waiting passenger’s Tatkal tickets that were not confirmed yet can be cancelled.
- If the Train late for 3-hours or more.

Remember, there is no process of Duplicate Tatkal Railway Tickets from now on (21st November 2011). Indian Railway will not issue any Duplicate Tatkal Railway Ticket unless strong evidence & emergency cases.

Guwahati-Puri Train Accident – Emergency Help-Line Phone Numbers – July 2011

10th July 2011 will be the worst day of Indian Railway because of two back to back Train Accidents. The first one happened around 12:15pm (noon) near Malwa in UP of Howrah-Delhi Kalka Mail Train accident and the later on in the evening at 8:25pm Guwahati-Puri Express Train accident happened in Assam State.

Approximately 500+ passengers of Guwahati-Puri Express train were injured and around 20+ passengers died (the number could have been changed). The Guwahati-Puri Express Train was going to Puri from Guwahati, Assam and when the train reached Nalbari district of Assam then suddenly the Guwahati-Puri Express Train got derailed. Around 5 bogies got derailed due to Guwahati (Assam) – Puri (Orissa) Train accident.

Howrah-Delhi Kalka Train Accident | Helpline Numbers | Location & Reason

Howrah-Kalka Mail Express Train derailed on 10th July 2011 and more than 50+ people were killed and as many as 200+ passengers injured when 13-15 bogies derailed of Delhi going Howrah-Kalka mail train.

Indian Railways decided to run two special releife trains for accident victims of Howrah-Kalka Mail Train accident and their family members to the accident location from Howrah (Kolkata) and from Delhi. A special train will run from Howrah (Kolkata) Station to Fatepur at 7:30pm and another special train will start from Delhi to Kanpur station. Indian Railway Government also announced Rs.1 lakh for all critically injured passengers of Howrah-Kalka mail train accident. Rs.5 Lakh will be given died victims and Rs.25000 will be given to minor injured passengers of Howrah-Delhi Kalka Mail Train that faced worst accident on 10th July 2011.

Reason cause of Howrah-Kalka Train Accident July 2011: Howrah-Kalka train was travelling at a speed of 110 km/hr at the time of accident and some says the accident occur due to emergency break, but some denied and claims that emergency break won't cause 13-bogies to be derailed. Later on after investigation the correct reason of Howrah-Kalka Train accident will be analyzed.

The passengers of Kolkata-Delhi Lal Qila Express and Howrah-Delhi Janata Express should aware of the fact that the express trains (Howrah-Delhi Janata and Kolkata-Delhi Lal Quila) has been cancelled due to railway track congestion for the Howrah-Kalka Mail Express Train accident happend on 10th July 2011.
