The movie Sampradan of Director Bappaditya Bandopadhyay was selected in the Competitive Section of 6th Dhaka International Film Festival in 2000 and won three major awards. Director Bappaditya Bandopadhyay directed the blockbuster hit Bengali movie Silpantar [colours of hunger] starring actress Debasri Roy in 2002. Bappaditya Bandopadhyay's Silpantar movie was premièred in Sofia International Film Festival of Bulgaria and selected in the competitive section of the International Film Festival Bratislava in 2003. It has to be remembered, that Bappaditya's Silpantar was the only Indian Movie other than 'Devdas' selected in the 2003 Helsinki International Film Festival. Later in 2005, Bappaditya Bandopadhyay directed Hindi movie Devaki featuring Suman Ranganathan & Perizaad Zorabian. Hindi movie Devaki of Bappaditya Bandopadhyay also released in English version and was screened at the Indian Ocean section of the 7th Ocean’s Cinefan Film Festival. Bappaditya's Hindi & English movie Devaki was in the competition section of Temecula Valley International Film Festival and the Idaho International Film Festival. Next Bengali movie Kantatar of Bappaditya Bandopadhyay was also selected in the Asian competition of the 7th Ocean’s Cinefan Film Festival and was screened at Raindance Film Festival in London. Success after success, no looking back for Bappaditya Bandopadhyay who have also directed quite a few Bengali Television Serials like 'Anandanagarir Kathakata' aired on Alpha Bangla TV Channel, Documentary on Tribal Masks aired on Doordarshan TV Channel etc. It will do no justice to Bappaditya Bandopadhyay if we don't mention the writing skills of him.
